Mel Monaco Fundraises New Music Video With a Pinup Calendar
By Chris Illich
12 months, 12 different businesses, 12 different themed pictures of singer/songwriter Mel Monaco.
On October 16 at Monty’s Gastropub, Mel Monaco will be releasing a Pin Up calendar in an effort to raise funds for her upcoming video shoot for her second single, “Single Again” at the Smithville Heritage Train Station. The calendar, in collaboration with Jennifer McCready of Lady Luck Pin Ups will be sold for $20, or $25 with a download card for her 2015 album These Are Just Suggestions.
“I just love to have fun. I love colours and arrangements. I don’t know where I would be in my career without the photographer that I’m working with. I met her a year ago, and through Lady Luck she has really empowered me,” said Monaco.
“She’s all about empowering women, and she really empowers me as an artist and as a woman to go out there and follow my dreams. That, and I just feel right in Pin Up clothing.”
The calendar has 12 sponsors [listed below] who will each be portrayed through a different photo shoot.
“All the businesses are going to be highlighted in the best way possible. For instance, each image is going to be related to the business,” she said. “It’s going to be about them and how they fit in with this project.”
With their sponsorship they received their logo to be included, all their event dates for the year 2016 and their contact information. Their sponsorship went directly to the production of the calendar, and Monaco is hoping that her audience will purchase them to help her get to her goal for her music video.
“It’s going to be really nice. It’s going to be a memento,” she said. “You may have it and use it for the year 2016, but I don’t think you’re going to throw it out.“
