It All Came Down to a Man Named Springer

By Matthew Murphy

From the opening tip off till the games final buzzer it was obvious that The Niagara River Lions are not a one player team. Although it was a struggle up to the fourth quarter, the hard work put in from Sammy Zeglinski, Da’Quan Cook and Logan Stutz, to name a few, was about to pay off. With 3s raining down all quarter long, it came down to Clinton Spinger-Williams draining a long bomb with 0.6 seconds left to push the Lions over the edge; winning the game 106-104 over the London Lightening.

It was crystal clear at that point that NBL basket ball had found a home in Niagara, as heard by the crowds deafening cheers at the end of our home opener. The Lions are back in the Meridian Centre Jan. 3rd against the Orageville A’s.
